My name is Dave Henderson. My wife Shirley and I own OTB Arabians. We are certainly happy to
be able to share with you the horses that we have come to love so much. The journey that has
become OTB Arabians began in 1988 with the purchase of a purebred Arabian filly.
We decided we wanted to breed Arabian horses. After a lot of reading and talking we decided
that the primary emphases in the horses the we would breed would be the gentle temperament,
which characterize the desert Arab, and traditional Arabian type including outstanding
structural conformation and of course athletic ability. It was the Arabian which could be used
for all of it's life that would be our standard. But it also had to be that horse who's beauty
and presence would clearly stamp it as an Arabian. While preferences may change and progress
must be ear marked by improvement, a breeding program can only survive if it's vision is
clear and it's standard is shared by others.
Our goal soon became the acquisition of five quality mares to begin a broodmare band. We
assembled two *Bask granddaughters, a Comar Bay Beau granddaughter, a Khemosabi daughter and
an Aurik daughter. Out of the original five mares purchased, three are still being used as
broodmares. Basktiana (OTB Auryan+/'s dam) continues to be bred to outside stallions while
OH Kharrousel and Shawzina are bred only to OTB Auryan+/. We have since added a Thoroughbred
mare to our broodmare band. We are also leasing a Khemosabi daughter to be bred to OTB Auryan+/.
In 1993 OTB Auryan+/ was born and we soon realized that he would be our farm’s stallion
With Ryan as our stallion we have found that the CMK and Polish crosses are indeed "golden".
This cross has become a part of our breeding program through OTB Auryan+/ and the mares we
take to him.
